Horses are deeply sensitive animals. They pick up on subtle shifts in body language, tone, and even the nervous system state of the people around them.
Energy plays a big role in how they feel and how they respond. Energy work offers horses a gentle way to release tension, restore balance, and feel more at ease in their own bodies.
What is energy work?
Energy work is a non-invasive method that uses light touch, intention, and awareness to help horses shift out of stress and into relaxation. It doesn’t replace veterinary care or bodywork, but it can complement both by supporting the horse’s overall sense of well-being.
Think of it as giving your horse the same chance you’d give yourself during a calming yoga class, a meditation session, or a moment of quiet breathing.
It helps the nervous system reset and creates space for healing from the inside out.
The science behind it
While energy may sound abstract, there’s science to back it up:
Nervous System Regulation – Horses move between sympathetic (fight/flight) and parasympathetic (rest/digest) states. Energy work helps encourage the parasympathetic state, which allows for relaxation, learning, and recovery.
Heart Rate Variability – Research shows that horses and humans can synchronize heart rhythms during calm, focused interaction, creating measurable changes in stress levels.
Mind-Body Connection – Just like people, horses carry emotional experiences in their bodies. Energy work can help release that stored tension.
When Energy Work Helps
Energy work may benefit horses who:
Show tension or anxiety in daily life
Hold onto stress from past experiences or trauma
Struggle to relax during training or handling
Need extra support alongside veterinary care, farrier work, or bodywork
What a session looks like:
Settle and Observe – We begin in a quiet space where your horse feels safe. I watch for signs of stress, relaxation, or curiosity.
Gentle Approach – Using light touch (or sometimes no touch at all), I focus on supporting areas where your horse is holding tension.
Horse-Led Process – Your horse guides the session. They may lick, chew, sigh, yawn, shift weight, or even walk away briefly — all part of the process of release.
Integration – We allow time for your horse to process the changes, often resulting in a softer expression, calmer breathing, and more balanced energy.
Energy sessions are timed by what the horse is asking for, so we can’t book on a block schedule.

Energy sessions range from 20 to 75 minutes.
Why I Offer This Work
As a lifelong yoga practitioner and certified in equine energy work, I’ve experienced firsthand how powerful energy awareness can be for both humans and horses. For me, energy work is another way to give horses a voice — to listen when they’re asking for calm, comfort, and space to heal.
